In 2019, I won a place on the London Writers Awards (LWA) in the Literary Fiction category for my then novel-in-progress. The LWA is a 12-month professional development scheme run by the wonderful people at Spread the Word.

My ambitions for the work changed over the course of the programme. Fiction no longer felt like the right container for what I wanted to say. In 2024, I applied for Developing Your Creative Practice funding from Arts Council England. Thanks to their generous support, I've been able to spend time playing with new shapes and forms.

The project is still feeling coy about declaring its genre. For now, let's call it creative non-fiction.

I've won or been listed for various awards, including City of Stories, streetcake magazine Experimental Fiction Prize, The Life Writing Prize and the Primadonna Prize.
My writing has been published by Visual Verse, The Science Museum Group and Peripheral Review (Canada), and I've collaborated with several visual artists, including Bedwyr Williams, Hannah Crosson and Pippa Choy.
Categories and genres are of interest to me; I like playing with, within and outside of them. But in the (beginning, middle and) end, everything is a story of one kind or another.
I live in north-east London with one daughter, one husband, one cat and hundreds of books.
When I’m not busy making things up, I write straight-laced words for clients in the charity, social and public health sectors, with specialist expertise in harm reduction. My copyediting and communications alter-ego can be found on LinkedIn.
If you'd like to find out more about my writing, discuss working together or just say hi, please drop me a line. I am not currently represented by a literary agent.
